If a government cannot be formed without fresh election by 11 November, SC will decide on the course of action

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung to explore possibilities for government formation in the national capital until 11 November.
If a government cannot be formed without fresh election by then, the apex court will decide on the course of action.
A five-judge bench of the apex court with chief justice H.L. Dattu and justices J. Chelameswar, A.K. Sikri, R.K. Agarwal and Arun Mishra has been hearing a writ petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seeking lifting of President’s Rule in Delhi.
Delhi has been without a government since the short-lived administration of AAP quit in February after being thwarted from passing a Bill to establish an independent anti-corruption ombudsman.
No party emerged with a clear majority on its own in the December 2013 state elections. The AAP formed a minority government with the support of the Congress, which lost power after three consecutive terms in office.
